Candida: The New Silent Killer

Many of you reading this probably haven't heard of Candida.  If that is the case then you'll likely be surprised to learn that it is one of the most dangerous fungai on the planet.  I'm sure you will be even more shocked to learn that this very bacteria has made home in your own stomach.  Don't get too alarmed at first though as this is quite normal.  See, Candida is part of your body's normal digestive process but when provided with the right conditions it will grow out of control creating intestinal holes and contaminating the blood stream.  This can lead to some very negative symptoms which include, but are not limited to: chronic fatigue, mood swings and depression, bad memory and lack of focus, digestive issues and in severe cases auto-immune diseases.

The main issue here is what causes Candida to flourish.  Foods with refined sugars and foods that contain complex carbohydrates all aid in Candida growth.  This includes a majority of the foods eaten by anyone who isn't a strict herbivore.  On top of that, candida overgrowth can often-times cause you to crave these very same foods which, if given into repeatedly, will cause an exponential Candida growth.  This raises the question: “How the hell do I prevent Candida growth?”
Here of some tips experts recommend:
  • Be easier on yourself, stress will only hurt
  • Avoid sugars as much as possible, especially refined sugars such as high fructose corn syrup and Sucralose  (This will be difficult for most)
  • Limit your intake of complex carbohydrates and alcohol (Even more difficult ;)
  • Take Caprylic acid supplements (a compound which creates holes it the candida's cell membrane) daily
  • Take probiotic supplements daily
  • Avoid the unnecessary use (so basically all use) of antibiotics
  • You can also find specific Candida support supplements and having used them myself for the past 2 months I will say they have far exceeded their cost.
