Foods That Naturally Whiten Teeth

Although it is hard to maintain perfect teeth now a days, with many popular drinks and food staining them, there are simple ways to bring back and protect teeth too.  Just by eating certain foods like fruits and vegetables can restore enamel and actually whiten teeth. Here is a list of the top food to do so. 

Strawberries
Strawberries contain malic acid, which is a natural astringent helping to lift stains. They also contain vitamin C that helps to fight plaque build-up. Combining crushed strawberries with baking soda is a great way to make a cleaning paste that you can whiten your teeth with. 

Milk and Cheese (and other diary products)
Diary products are rich in protein, calcium, phosphorus, and lactic acid, all of which help fight bacteria in your mouth and make enamel stronger. Casein, a type of protein found in dairy, especially cheese, works with calcium and phosphorus to help repair enamel. Protein binds to the teeth and prevent acids from causing damage.



Onions and Garlic
Onions and garlic contain thiosulfinates and thiosulfonates, which reduce bacteria that cause tooth decay. They will not leave stains on the teeth as well. Not to mention but after you eat them you are most likely to brush your teeth, aiding in the teeth whitening process.

Shiitake Mushrooms
Shiitake mushrooms contain lentinan, which helps to inhibit bacteria from growing. 

Broccoli 
Broccoli contains iron and iron is great for forming a barrier around your teeth, preventing them from being harmed by acid.

Pineapple 
Pineapples contain bromelain, which is an enzyme that acts as a natural stain cleaner. It also helps break up plaque as well. 

Salmon
Salmon is not only rich in calcium, which helps repair teeth, but also in vitamin D, essential for healthy bones and teeth.

Apple Cider Vinegar
Swooshing apple cider vinegar in your mouth like mouthwash once or twice daily can help dramatically whiten teeth. This can also be combined with baking soda to make a cleaning paste.
